Armbar

Armbar

An armbar in Brazilian Jiu-Jiu corresponds to the technique in Judo known as "juji-gatame", or cross arm-lock. The basic form of the technique requires one to lay their legs across the opponents chest, with the opponent's arm held tightly between one's legs, fixing the opponent's body and shoulders, while pulling the wrist of their arm tightly to one's body and thrusting hips upward to hyperextend the elbow joint for a submission.

This technique can be performed from a variety of positions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, from the top mount, S-mount, side control, closed-guard, and various other places, and is as such one of the most versatile fundamental submissions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
