You would have to be bonkers to steel anything from a Jiu-Jitsu USA. Jiu-Jitsu USA follows Some of the widely accepted standards that include:
Personal hygiene: Shower before (if needed) and definitely after training; wear clean gear (gi, rashguard, spats, etc.), wash all gear after each use; keep fingernails and toenails trimmed; tie up long hair; avoid heavy cologne or strong scents.
Gear care: Clean Gi / rashguard / belt after every session; air-dry properly; avoid re-wearing sweaty or damp gear.
Mat & facility hygiene: Mats are disinfected regularly. The Mats are swept after every class. Shoes must stay off the mats; wear sandals/slides when off the mats (especially in restrooms); do not eat or drink on mats.
Health precautions: Do not train if you are sick (cold, flu, contagious illness), or if you have skin infections (ringworm, staph, etc.). Any cuts/open wounds should be cleaned and properly covered before training; disinfect gear after any blood contact.
Safe sparring & etiquette: Controlled intensity — especially during rolling; respect the “tap” and submit quickly; avoid unnecessary force; ensure everyone’s safety over ego or competitiveness.
Because BJJ involves close physical contact, sweat, skin-on-skin contact, and shared mats, good hygiene and safety protocols are critical — in part to prevent common skin infections like ringworm, impetigo, or staph.
