Balance, heavily overlapped the concepts of stability and rooting, is your ability to maintain your position. Your balanced is impacted by both conscious, sub-conscious, and psychological factors. For example, while trying to push someone forward, you may be easy to pull off balance forward. Likewise, while trying to pull backwards on someone, you may be easy to push over backwards. This leads to the Judo concept of "push when pulled, pull when pushed". You might even have subconscious postural habits that lead you to constantly easy to lead to fall over in a certain direction, especially when startled or surprised.

"Kuzushi" in Judo is the concept of disturbing your opponent's sense of balance so that when combined with a mechanical advantage, your opponent can't easily resist your attempt to throw them.

Balance may also refer to the ideas of "yin and yang" in Chinese martial arts, "aiki" in Japanese martial arts, several concepts in Yoga, where the conception of balance is used not just as a way of attacking someone else, but of identifying and improving one's own conception of balance.
