Kyuzo Mifune was one of the most famous early practitioners, instructors, and scholars of Kodokan Judo under Jigoro Kano. Due to his level of skill at defeating opponents in Judo, and in particular being a smaller man, he was sometimes known as "the empty gi," due to the difficulty of defeating him.
