Mitsuyo Meda
Mitsuyo Maeda was a Japanese student of Judo who immigrated to Brazil from Japan in 1914. He famously either directly or through a student taught Judo to Carlos Gracie, Luiz Franca, and others, that became the foundation of what is now known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. For this he is often called Conde Koma in Brazil, meaning Count Combat.
