One-arm-in Choke

One-arm-in Choke

The one-arm-in choke, also known as a head and arm choke or arm triangle choke, in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a choke that relies on the opponent's own arm being trapped against their carotid artery along with a figure-four arm lock of your own arms to pressure both carotid arteries, creating a "blood choke" that restricts blood flow to the brain. This is done facing your opponent, as from top mount or side control positions. There are similar chokes that use the same head and arm mechanic but from different positions, such as from the back, that have different names to distinguish them despite the similarity, such as the Anaconda choke. This choke is known as "kata-gatame" or shoulder hold in Judo.
