Taichi chuan
Taichi Chuan is a family of Chinese martial arts, popular in China and the world abroad, heavily focused on the expression of "taiji", or the conjunction/balance of "yin" and "yang" within the body, for martial purposes. These concepts are heavily related to the practice of "Ju" in Judo, a modern Japanese martial art.
While many claims are made about its origins and martial prowess, it may in fact be a more modern martial art salvaged within China from older arts that were upended by its recent period of societal, cultural, and political unrest. Taichi Chuan, while not necessarily withstanding competition from sporting or competitive martial arts, is an effective way to condition the body for certain martial arts application, such as balance, coordinated strength, and application of rotation.
